LEFKADA
The island of Lefkada, is at the west coast of Greece, one of the seven Ionian islands rich in history and age-old tradition.
Here, it is believed that Homer set the "Odyssey" and it was there that the poetess Sappho had her unfortunate love affair with Phaon,
ending with her leap from one of the island's white cliffs where the temple of Apollo stood, and where nature can be seen in all its beauty.
It is unique amongst the other islands because is separated from the mainland of Greece by a 25m channel with a movable swing bridge
that carries a road, thus easily connected with the main road nets to the airport (18 km), Preveza (21km), other major cities and
Athens (360km).
The seaside villages of the island are enormously popular with yachtsmen for their safe anchorages, and the newly
built luxurious marina at the town of Lefkada. Not by chance, many years ago, Onassis bought one of the many smaller islands, amongst the plenty
of the east coast, which became famous allover the world as "Skorpios" and helped transform Lefkada to a world destination.
Today Lefkada is very well-known by the greek and European tour operators as "the villa island", being lucky enough to enjoy a rational
"house-building" rather than an intensified hotel & rooms-to-let construction initiatives as many other mass-tourism destinations.
And here, in the midst of a Mediterranean shrub land area with centuries-old olive and cypress trees towering over the sea,
redolent of thyme, sage and mint we have conceived our residential neighbourhoods. They rise above the village of Ahios Nikitas,
on the west coast of the island.
